One day last week, I locked myself out of the garage and the house. I did have the keys to our truck in my hand, but the battery was dead. I ended up having to kick in the garage door just to get my house keys in order to be able to go to work. My purse and phone both were locked in the house but my keys were upstairs in the garage apartment that I use for my craft loft. I had no other choice. I am sure that I was amusing to the neighbors if they saw me. I had several different keys that I found in the truck that I tried to open all the doors of the house and garage and not one worked on any lock. Luckily, and after some hard praying, I did find one last key that unlocked the front door of the house. We never use that door so I am surprised that I actually found a key to open it. Anyway, after I got my phone and purse, that is when I decided that I had to get into the garage to get my keys. After two quick and accurate kicks, I had the door open. Don't think I am some super hero with a powerful kick, the door was pretty shoddy anyway. My husband had to do some work on the door, but has got it to at least close now. When it warms up, he is going to have to put a whole new lock system in it. He is a locksmith so that shouldn't be a problem for him.
Also last Friday, we were stuck at home due to the weather. Here in Alabama, when they call for any snow (even flurries), people make a mad dash to the grocery store for milk and bread. Do not ask me why, cause I have no clue. I can understand buying bread in case the power is out, but milk? Anyway, the roads ended up being closed on Friday due to ice on the roads from the snow and sleet that fell on Thursday and Thursday night. Of course with the roads being closed, the schools were all out too. That left me, my husband and both kids, stuck at home, all together. This really didn't bother me because I was needing a day that I could do some major cleaning and reorganizing here in the house. It is not very often at all that we have a weather day where we can't go anywhere, so the kids thought they would die of boredom and by 2:00 pm that same day, Robin (my husband) was already getting cabin fever. They would never make it if we did have to stay at home and indoors for a long period of time. I am thankful that I did get a lot done in the house and actually got to rest and relax on Saturday. I will miss the pay on my check from work for one missed day, but in the long run it was so worth it!
I got to work on several more cards this weekend. I made a couple of Valentine cards for swap-bot.com swaps I am in for Valentine cards and then I made one just to "practice." I will use it sometime I am sure, I just don't know what for yet. I left the inside blank that way I can use it for several different purposes. I will post the pictures of the cards at a later time. I do not want to spoil any one's fun in case they see them on my blog.
Speaking of cards, remember tomorrow is MojoMonday at mojomomday.blogspot.com. If you are into making handmade greeting cards, then check it out. Last week was my first week to be a part of the gang, but I did enjoy making a card for this challenge and also getting to meet new friends and fellow card makers and seeing their cards for inspiration.
We had a wonderful meal today after church. Yesterday was my mother in law's birthday and all the family took her out to eat for her birthday. We ate at a place called "Top of the River." Their specialty is catfish, but since I do not eat fish, I ordered chicken tenders. They were huge. I ended up only eating two of them and brought the rest home. Me and Danielle (my daughter) ate the other two for dinner tonight. I have a wonderful mother in law. Not many people can say that. In the past, I had a mother in law (from a previous marriage) that was definitely NOT so wonderful, and that is me being nice. I could say a few choice things, but that is not Christ like so I will hold my tongue. Anyway, my present mother in law is the best and I am thankful for her and thankful that we get along so well. I think we both love my husband the same and she knows that I do my best to love, support and take care of him. She is a friend, encourager, prayer partner and a sister in Christ. I love you Linda!
With tomorrow being a new week, I hope that everything goes well for you and that you encourage others, be a positive example, and stay safe!
